Parenting Support
Parenting babies, toddlers,
pre-schoolers
We all know that parenting can be a wonderful experience but it can also be a harrowing one. We may even start to doubt our skills and our ability to maintain a positive relationship with our spouse because of our disagreements that often ensue when our children don’t behave the way we like them to.
We at Jumping Hurdles know that parents need an opportunity to talk about how things are going and have developed a range of one to six week sessions to accommodate parents’ need. We also know that parents need the opportunity to ask for specific information on any concerns or issues. Some common challenges include:
- Rivalry and aggression between siblings
- Attention seeking behaviors
- Tantrums
- Choosing child care, kindergarten and schools
- Sleep regimes
- Toilet training
- Returning to work without guilt

Workshops and Seminars
The following workshop ideas are just a small number that we can deliver.
Is your child managing you or
are you managing your child?
There are times when we question our ability to deal with difficult child behaviour. It is at these times that we need to consider what leads to challenging behaviour.
Expectations, frustration and unclear rules are key elements in understanding children’s behaviour.
Want to know more?
Knowing how to better manage your child’s behaviour comes with a better understanding of your child and yourself, and being aware of what needs to change in your relationship with each other. Let us work with you to establish sound ground rules and boundaries, and regain the pleasure of being with your child.

Parenting Adolescents
Do you feel that you have problems connecting with your teenager?
Are you confused by the changes that have, and continue to, take effect on your ‘child’?
Parenting adolescents can be a challenge, so come along and join us to discuss your concerns and learn strategies that can assist in difficult times.
Parenting Adolescents
It is after work and our discussion group brings together several parents wanting to share their concerns. They are not as bright and ecstatic about parenting as one might think. They have adolescent children.
They talk about
- The latest infraction
- Their experience of defiant behaviour
- How to regain their self esteem
Being a parent of a teenager can be a harrowing experience and there is a great deal of comfort in knowing that you are not alone with feelings of helplessness that often goes with the territory.
