Tips for a good night's sleep

There are many relaxation techniques you can use. Some focus on physical methods of relaxation while others focus on relaxing the mind.

Our aim in producing this CD has been to provide you with a tool to assist you in achieving mind-body balance - to rest, recuperate and revitalize.

You can physically relax by letting go of tension in your muscles, and you can mentally relax by learning to block out thoughts which cause tension by focusing on non stressful thoughts for short periods of time during the day.

Ideally you would practice relaxation twice a day.

This CD provides you with a technique to relax both your mind and body.

REST ... RECUPERATE ... REVITALISE :

The 3 R's to Better Sleep

Relaxation is a means of achieving the physical and mental unwinding of our bodies, and is a wonderful tool in combating stress. People who normally live with a high degree of stress are in danger of experiencing physical and/or mental difficulties. It is not always possible to reduce those activities that cause us stress. We cannot shirk our family commitments, nor do we feel comfortable saying NO to our employer if the work starts to pile up.

However you can lower your level of tension by regular relaxation practice, and cushion yourself from becoming overstressed.

Relaxation brings about several bodily changes:

Our minds become more tranquil

Our hormone production decreases

Our breathing rate decreases as less oxygen is

needed

Our heart rate decreases and our blood

pressure drops

Our muscles relax, and

Our sweating decreases markedly
